How to turn your screen into grayscale/monochrome mode in linuxmint

Today we will learn how to change your default display of the monitor into grayscale also known as monochrome mode

Warning:- this tutorial is only for linuxmint based on cinnamon desktop, might also work with debian based operating systems which has cinnamon desktop layout.

Although the plugin we are trying to use in not in the official repository of cinnamon desktop, beware and proceed with your own risks.

Let's begin

Extract the file and paste it in your /home/(your-user-name)/.local/share/cinnamon/applets

To view your local folder you need to enable show hidden files in your home folder or you can also try this shortcut CTRL+H

Also to paste the file you might need root privilages. To do that right click on the folder and choose open as root and then paste your file.

Reload your cinnamon by pressing ( ALT+F2 and then press r )

Right click on the task bar and then choose applets

Click desaturate All to activate by clicking the plus icon below and you'll see a new icon representing a artist's pallete

Turn on your grayscale on/off by clicking on it.

Enjoy
